I’m going to talk about Sacred Sex now.
You’ve been warned, as they say.
Yesterday I enjoyed a two hour long lovemaking session with my partner while the Gayatri Mantra played softly.
The Gayatri is a universal prayer enshrined in the Vedas. It is addressed to the Immanent and Transcendent Divine which has been given the name ‘Savita,’ meaning ‘that from which all this is born. Gayatri is the Mother of all scriptures (Vedas). She is present, wherever Her name is chanted. She is very powerful. She is the embodiment of all Goddesses.
We could both feel that something special was in the air, and that the sacred chants were elevating our sex to the next level, taking us to that special plane reserved solely for lovers who choose to consciously share their bodies and souls with each other.
I’m not saying this to brag, I promise. Sex is not always sacred, and ours is no exception.
Frankly, I think it’s important to remember that not every sexual encounter will leave you swimming in the universal ether – and that is okay!
(Many of the people who resonate with my offerings have experienced sexual trauma, and I know from experience that it can mess with your sex-life in all sorts of ways. That’s a topic for another blog post, though.)
My advice is to treasure these moments with your lover when you are both in the space to create and appreciate them and have an open heart and mind for all that sex has to offer:
- the sacred
- the funny
- the liberating
- the urgent
- the mindblowing
- the learning experiences
- and the haphazard.
It’s all beautiful, and it’s all magical, when you are choosing to get vulnerable, be seen, and share yourself completely with someone you love.
And when it is Sacred Sex…
When your partner recognizes the Goddess in you and shares their body in reverence for all that you are, and the power and divinity you innately possess, sex becomes the most holy of activities.
When you consciously give yourself pleasure and tap into the potent magic of your yoni, sex becomes divine.
Shake off all of that puritanical shame and guilt when it comes to sex. Sex is not dirty, embarrassing, sinful or strictly for reproduction.
The truth is, your yoni is a cosmic portal and the creative power of your sexual energy can manifest almost anything.
Everyone, regardless of gender, holds the seed of the Divine within them.
Sacred Sex can split you wide open and reveal that throbbing seed of creation in your heart.
Sacred Sex can make you feel holy, reverent, humbled and alive.
I believe in my heart that we are all holding the seeds of the Divine within us, and that mind-blowing, heart expanding sex that honors and respects that divinity is our birthright.
I know everyone reading this has likely had sexual experiences that left them feeling less than reverent, less than respected and holy. We have all been touched by hands that were not worthy of our love.
Here is something else I know:
You can choose to remember the sleeping Goddess within you when you make love.
You can anoint your beautiful body with oil, burn the special incense, fill the air with fragrant smoke and sacred chants and touch the Goddess inside of you.
She is waiting.
I wrote the poem above in 2015, and I love reading it aloud (alone or with my partner) and affirming, reminding:
Remember Her when you come to me.
From the heart, always.
P.S. If you’d like to experience connecting with the Divine Feminine essence inside of you, I welcome you to try my “Honoring the Divine Feminine Within” guided meditation. This meditation flowed through me on the Full Strawberry Moon, and will lead you on a journey to connect with your Goddess self – to see Her, know Her, honor and learn from Her. I constantly hear from people who have experienced this meditation that they have never had the opportunity to meet their inner Goddess in this way.
If you are feeling called to experience self-pleasure in a new way that honors your most sacred place and elevates sensual playtime to a new level, you may be interested in working with a gemstone Goddess Wand. Crystal dildos were used in ancient times by sensual and powerful Priestesses for serious Goddess Work – healing, manifesting, and connecting with the sacred feminine.
If you’d like to learn more about working with a Goddess Wand, I encourage you to consult the FAQ’s or have a read through some of my previous posts.
